JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER
IT HAPPENED AGAIN
She always walks in with a smile, a little laugh, like the world doesn’t bother her. But when in fact she’s dying from the inside. If you peeled the wall down, you’d see a girl in tears, a girl who wanted a truck to hit her out of the blue, so she’d never have to contemplate suicide. She’s not a girl who’ll take her own …life, she thinks that’s wrong, she thinks it’s beneath her. But hoping to get run over by a runway car, that would set things right.
She always sits alone in the corner, her mind lost in the book she’s reading. It always something new, I can never keep track of it. I guess she reads to keep the pain at bay, both mentally and physically. She’s wearing two new badges of abuse, one across her face and the other on her arm. Still she pretends it’s alright, maybe if she doesn’t think about it, it”ll go away, like a bad dream you want to wake up from.
” How much longer?” She takes her nose out of the book, looks around the coffee shop, wondering if I’m talking to her. Cause it can’t be her, in her mind, she believes the world doesn’t notice her, she’s just a ghost, just waiting to past to the next life.
” who me?”
I smile. Letting her know I do see her ” Yes you.”
