Vela One More Year

Carlos Vela has officially agreed to stay with LAFC for one year more. Management came to him with the new system they have instore and Vela was sold.

And it looks like the new rumors of Antonio Mohamed “El Turco” joining LAFC have gained legs. Vela was not pleased with Bob Bradley and would not join the team for one year more if they plan to bring in someone with Bob’s style. Which means LAFC is getting an overhaul when it comes to the coaching side.

We’ll have to see what develops with El Turco. But for now we can 100% confirm Vela is staying Black And Gold for one year more.

The Chofis Saga

As I reported previously, Chivas De Guadalajara agreed and loaned out Javier Eduardo Lopez for another 6 months to the San Jose Earthquakes.

https://wp.me/p8Pv4-11q

Chivas extended the olive branch to the Quakes by accepting the 6-month loan because both Club and La Chofis see a more significant payday around the corner.

From what people close to Club Guadalajara are saying, Chofis’s relationship with his former club is actually in a very good place, and both have an open communication of where his career is going.

The game plan is for Javier Eduardo Lopez to earn his pay within the six-month loan and raise that price tag if he ends up having a blowout start to the season.

Chivas will be pushing for the Quakes to quickly decide on Lopez’s future when the time comes during the summer transfer window. If San Jose stalls, Chivas will take the player back, resign him for one year.

Lopez does not attend to walk out a free agent from Chivas, knowing his best way to guarantee a good salary for himself is to make a deal happen while being with Club Guadalajara. This is something both he and the club have decided, according to reports.

It also seems La Chofis being blacklisted from Chivas may be a thing of the past, and if all fails, he could be suiting up with Chivas once more.

The main objective, for now, is to resolve the Oswaldo Alanis deal. Since Chivas have zero intention of bringing him back, they’ll see if Quakes plan to purchase the veteran.

For now, the La Chofis Saga is postponed. All eyes will be on day 1 to see if Javier Eduardo Lopez can put up the numbers he did last season.

That’s all I have to report. I’ll keep you guys updated if anything new breaks.

CHOFIS CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!

New information trickles down about Javier Eduardo Lopez ‘La Chofis’ and the negotiations between Chivas and San Jose Earthquakes.

At first, it seemed Chivas was hell-bent on making San Jose pay for 4 Million to 3.5 Million for Chofis, which is still the asking price. But a Christmas Miracle may be around the corner for Quakes fans.

People close in Club Guadalajara are stating Chivas might lay off the pressure on demanding such a large amount and give in to a 6 Month loan for Javier Eduardo Lopez. When the loan ends, Quakes would have to make a bid or end up sending him back, which Chivas could quickly sell Lopez to another Liga MX team in the summer window or extend his contract with Chivas and perhaps even forgive him for the past mistakes.

La Chofis is in Guadalajara as we speak on vacation. But he might have returned to have a one-on-one with Ricardo Pelaez to discuss his future.

Getting Lopez on loan would be a massive win for the Quakes. It lets you test out the water if Chofis was a one-hit-wonder or the legend in the making.

I’m honestly in shock with the current information about the loan. I know Chivas are money hungry, and they needed cash for new signings, though they might save selling Chofis for the summer transfer window.

We’ll see what happens with this. I’ll keep you guys updated.

Fixing Chivas On A No Budget

The season is over, and it ended in absolute tragedy for us. Now it’s back to the drawing board in how to rebuild this team….if they have the money for it.

Owner Amaury Vergara gave a vague answer that they would make drastic changes within Club Guadalajara and scolded the players after the Wild card lost to Puebla, saying, “Some of you have played your last game for Chivas.” Harsh words for a man who only invests 30% of his time with the team and refuses to invest money in the club.

And that’s where my two cents come in. I’m here to build Chivas on a No Budget because that’s the reality we face each year.

Step 1: THE LOANS COMING BACK

4 loans that need to come back to Chivas.

First, Carlos Van Rankin. A DB who lost his form in Chivas in the worst way. I literally saw him run as though he had weights wrapped on his ankles. Luckily Van Rankin regained his form with the Portland Timbers. He’s primed to be the solid DB Chivas needs. Pairing him with Alejandro Mayorga would add a much-needed spark to Chivas’s defense. The Miguel Ponce and Chapo Sanchez era have to come to an end. Let’s get the new blood in there.

Second, Gael Sandoval. His stats aren’t booming, but he can play Left Winger, Right Winger, and Attacking Midfielder. He’s got a spark in him that can help add depth to an offense that needs a good passer.

Third, Oscar Macias. Juarez FC head coach Tuca did not use Oscar Macias at all, which is a shame. The kid has talent, and he proved it many times before when he was on loan with Lobos and San Luis. He can attack and defend with the best of them.

And let’s not forget Oscar Macias was a Matias Almeyda prospect. But for some reason, Chivas loan him out, the kid is on fire, and they call him back just to bench him.

Macias can play attacking midfielder, winger, and Defensive Back. Being age 23 and having that long resume helps Chivas in spades. If Macias comes back with the first team, he’ll become a starter in no time.

Fourth, Oswaldo Alanis. Yes, he’s a 32-year-old Center Back who also regained his form with the San Jose Earthquakes. And that’s why it makes sense to bring him back.

Chivas need that veteran in the CB spot. Alanis might not be the starter because of Luis Olivas and Briseno, but he’s the right man to fill in when you need 3 CB to close the game for you and hold the lead in the late 70th minute. His experience would also help grow the younger players.

Step 2: The Untouchables

There are some players you won’t be able to move. At least not this season. Here’s the list of players Chivas needs to keep.

-Alexis Vega (Striker/Winger)
-Raul Gudino (Goalie)
-Carlos Cisneros (DB/Winger/Striker)
-Alejandor Mayorga (DB)
-Lalo Torres (MF)
-Sergio Flores (MF)
-Luis Olivas (CB)
-Isaac Brizuela (Winger/MF/DB)
-Jesus Angulo (Winger/Striker/MF)
-Briseno (CB)

Carlos Cisneros has earned his spot with the Untouchables. He can play any position you want. I love him as a DB, but if Van Rankin comes back, that means Cisneros can work more as a winger or even Midfield, where I think he would charge that offense.

Jesus Angulo has his ups and downs, but I still feel like there’s a great player in him waiting to flourish. And he’s a diehard Chivas fan. He stays this season. The rest are open to sell or trade. This leads us to Step 3.

Step 3: Sell To Fund The Next Project

Let’s face it; this team will have to sell players to fund their next project. And Chivas fans need to lower their expectations of who they can sign. Chivas, at best, could bring in two or three new signings if they unload these players.

#1 Oribe Peralta (OFFICIALLY GONE)

He was on my list on day one. They never gave him the playing time, so it’s best to save 1.2 Million a year.

#2 Hiram Mier (CB)

I feel like the best days are behind him. Mier’s contract stands in the 1.1 Million a year. With younger talent taking up the role, it’s time to cut the fat off the team.

#3 La Chofis (Striker/Winger/MF)

If it were up to me, I would take Javier Eduardo Lopez back in a blink of an eye. But since that whole party scandal, he’s been blacklisted for life. Thus, selling him now is the most important thing to do after La Chofis breakout year. Sell him at 3.5 Million and get the team in the green.

#4 Cristian Calderon “El Chicote” (DB/Winger)

I have faith in this player and still consider him to be a future El Tri prospect. But his time in Chivas utterly eviscerated all his confidence in his God-given talent. For the well-being of the player and team, it’s time to sell him. Let him get back to where he was once. You could probably get 2.5 for him.

#5 Uriel Antuna (Winger)

He’s a speedster with a lot of untapped talent. I think being with Chivas once again is doing the worst for him. A new team, a new system would lift him and turn his career around. You might not be able to get the money you paid for him, but he’s suitable for a player swap if need be.

#6 Angel Zaldivar (Striker)

He’s the leading goal scorer for Chivas and the only Striker with more playing time. But the problem now lies with him not being consistent enough in the role. The problem with this is that Zaldivar won’t be a hot sell to teams; at best, he could leave the group as a loan, which would free up some cap space for one transfer window.

#7 Cesar Huerta (Winger and Striker)

Huerta is a frustrating case. You see the talent in him, but you still see the lack of maturity when it comes to being on the field. Selling him may be a good option; you might have a team willing to pay top dollar for him, or you could loan him out for one year to another club. The kid is barely 20; he’s got four years tops to shine. Leano is a big fan of his, but you got to make the deal now before it sours.

#8 Jesus Molina (MF)

Molina has some terrible games and outstanding games. You can’t question his toughness. But I think it’s time to cut ties and move on, loan, or sell him. But whatever they do, it’s time to move on from the past.

Step 4: How do Chivas lineup?

Let’s say Chivas sell the players I listed, and they still refuse to buy until the summer window. How does Chivas bring a competitive squad? Easy, we promote the kids from El Tapatio to the first team.

Here’s the way I would lineup Chivas starters and 11 man roster on the bench.

STARTING 11

Goalie: Raul Gudino
DB: Alejandor Mayorga
CB: Luis Olivas
CB: Briseno
DB: Carlos Van Rankin
MF: Sergio Flores
MF: Lalo Torres
MF: Jesus Angulo
LW: Carlos Cisneros
RW: Issac Brizuela
Striker: Alexis Vega

The 11 Backups

Goalie: Rangel (Tapatio)
CMF: Alejandor Organista (Tapatio)
DB: Oswaldo Alanis
DB/RW: Magana (Tapatio)
MF: Pavel Perez (Tapatio)
RB/CB: Juan Aguayo (Tapatio)
MF: Oscar Macias
MF: Nene Beltran
LW: Gael Sandoval
Striker: Ronaldo Cisneros
Striker: Chevy Martinez (Tapatio)

The main roster is shaken up a little. It’s the talent on the bench that’s changed drastically. I think it’s time for those kids to get minutes with the first team. Chivas can’t just wait. It’s time to test them in deep waters.

With the 5 sub-window, Chivas can bring at least two newcomers in the 75th or 60th minute. And to be frank, with Leano coaching, you might as well use this upcoming season as a practice run. Who knows, you might even find a future superstar in the making. Save the money you made from the sales, and invest in three players in the summer transfer window if need be.

Well, that was my No Budget fix. I hope you enjoyed it, and we’ll see what happens.
